Adventure Elopement in Yosemite

Said Yes to Adventure: Jonie & Julianne’s Yosemite Elopement
Some couples dream of a grand ballroom, hundreds of guests, and a wedding day that follows all the traditional rules. Jonie and Julianne? They had a different idea. They wanted adventure, wild landscapes, meaningful moments, and each other. So instead of spending thousands on a huge venue, they chose to keep things simple and intentional, opting for a Yosemite elopement with a $150 Yosemite ceremony permit and putting their time and energy into what mattered most: experiencing the day together. And honestly? It couldn’t have suited them better.
It All Started With a Little Help From Family
Jonie and Julianne’s story began through Julianne’s parents, who helped bring their paths together.
Eventually, Jonie invited Julianne to his club, and that’s where the two really began to connect.
But their love story didn't exactly begin over a quiet dinner or a casual coffee date.
Nope. These two bonded while whitewater kayaking. I mean… talk about an adventurous first chapter!
Julianne was learning the ropes, and apparently going overboard was occasionally part of the learning process. Luckily, Jonie was right there. His fellow club members already knew he had a thing for her, so they put him to work as her assistant. And every time Julianne found herself in the water, Jonie was there to come save her.
Talk about foreshadowing.
From Whitewater to Forever
Somewhere between the rushing water, the adventures, and all those moments of Jonie coming to Julianne’s rescue, something much bigger started happening. They fell in love. And years later, they’re still very much in love.
You don't have to spend very long around these two to see it, either. The way they interact, laugh together, look at each other, and naturally reach for one another says everything. Their connection is the kind you don't have to manufacture for the camera. It's just there. And that made photographing their Yosemite elopement an absolute dream.
A Half-Day Yosemite Elopement
Rather than rushing through a quick ceremony and calling it a day, Jonie and Julianne gave themselves time to actually experience Yosemite together. We spent a whole half day exploring, taking in the scenery, soaking up the moments, and capturing their relationship in a place that felt just as adventurous as they are. And then came golden hour. Because if you're going to elope in Yosemite, you might as well stay for that magical evening light!
The mountains began glowing, the landscape softened, and the entire day felt like one long adventure that neither of them wanted to end. And, naturally, these two couldn't finish their Yosemite adventure without doing something a little daring.
Because Why Not Climb a Giant Rock?
Toward the end of the day, Josie spotted a huge rock and suggested they climb up. Because apparently a beautiful Yosemite elopement wasn't adventurous enough yet. And, of course, Jonie helped Julianne climb right up there with him. The two of them stood together on top of that massive rock, surrounded by Yosemite's incredible landscape, and it felt like the perfect ending to their day. Not posed. Not overly planned. Just them.
Two people who met through adventure, fell in love through adventure, and decided to celebrate their marriage with an adventure of their own.
Your Love Story Doesn't Have to Look Like Everyone Else's
That's one of my favorite things about elopements. Your wedding day doesn't have to fit into a traditional mold. You don't need a giant venue. You don't need hundreds of guests. You don't need to spend your entire budget creating a wedding that looks like everyone else's. If you're the kind of couple who would rather hike, kayak, climb, explore, chase golden hour, and experience something unforgettable together... Let's do that. If you're dreaming of an adventurous Yosemite elopement with a photographer who is ready to get out there with you, explore, climb, hike, laugh, and document the real moments along the way—I'm your girl. Let's make your wedding day feel like you.
