High School Sweethearts Get Married

Andy and Velisity’s love story started when they were just 15 and 16 years old.
Seven years later, they stood together and became husband and wife.
Their wedding day was so special. They got married at their church in Fresno. Velisity’s dad had the honor of marrying them. It was a beautiful way to celebrate their story and the life they have built together.
Faith is a big part of their relationship. They both share a deep love for Jesus. That love was so clear throughout their wedding ceremony. During the ceremony, their friends from the worship team sang for them. It was such a beautiful moment. Later, all of their loved ones gathered around them and extended a hand as they prayed over Andy and Velisity, their love, and their marriage. These are the moments I love to capture.
I wanted to tell their full story through my photos. I moved around the church to capture as many angles as I could. I was sitting on the floor for some photos. I even stood on an empty chair in the back row to get a different view.
But I always want to be mindful of the couple. Photography is important. Your wedding day deserves to be captured and remembered forever. But your photos should never take away from the day itself. My goal is to capture the moments without ruining them.
The church had very low lighting. I chose not to use my flash during the ceremony because I wanted Andy and Velisity to have those quiet moments without bright flashes going off around them. I found other ways to work with the light and still capture the emotion of the day. Then, later that night, we had some fun with the flash.
It was completely dark outside, and their friends and family gathered around as sparklers lit up the night. We used my flash to capture their final moments of the evening as they were sent off as newlyweds. From being young teenagers in love to standing together as husband and wife seven years later, their wedding day was a beautiful reminder of how special it is to grow together. I am so grateful I got to be there to capture it.
